Is Rust Conversion Agent a Scam?

Rusting steel not only reduces cross-sectional area and degrades performance—sometimes rendering it unusable—but also creates pitting that causes stress concentration, accelerating structural failure. Particularly under impact loads or cyclic alternating loads, rust-induced fatigue occurs, significantly reducing the material's fatigue strength and potentially causing brittle fracture. Currently, rust removal methods include abrasive and sandblasting, power and hydraulic tool cleaning, water jetting, wet abrasive blasting, and chemical rust removal such as electrolytic rust removal. However, in recent years, rust converters have gained significant popularity. These agents not only remove rust but also form a protective coating during the process. Such rust converters eliminate the need for complex pre-painting treatments like grinding, acid pickling, washing, phosphating, sandblasting, and pre-coating, substantially reducing labor intensity and overall processing costs. They are particularly suitable for outdoor steel structures, color-coated steel sheets, storage tanks, and pipelines.
