During the renovation process, the array of primary and auxiliary materials can overwhelm first-time homeowners, with many terms like “gypsum interface agent” being encountered for the first time. What exactly is a gypsum interface agent?

What is a Gypsum Interface Agent?

A gypsum interface agent is a supplementary renovation material, also known as a wall reinforcement agent. Its name roughly indicates its function: reinforcing wall surfaces.

This emulsion-based building material enhances surface strength and improves adhesion between putty layers and raw cement walls. Composed of synthetic and polymer colloids, it primarily seals wall pores and creates artificial texture on original walls before foundation work.

Unlike traditional construction adhesives, gypsum interface agent is crafted through multiple processes using high-molecular polymers. It is formaldehyde-free, highly permeable, and exhibits excellent water and alkali resistance.

If your walls show signs of loose dust, hollow spots, or cracks, you'll need to apply base plaster and putty. Before application, remove any loose dust and then brush on the primer. This will significantly enhance adhesion.
