Titanium dioxide is a white inorganic pigment primarily composed of titanium dioxide, with the chemical formula TiO₂. It possesses high refractive index, lightfastness, and chemical stability, finding extensive application in coatings, plastics, inks, cosmetics, and other fields.

Classification and Crystal Structures：

Titanium dioxide is categorised into two primary types based on crystal structure: anatase and rutile. Anatase readily transforms into rutile at elevated temperatures. The latter, prized for its high refractive index and superior stability, is predominantly employed in industrial manufacturing.

Production Processes:

Two primary methods are utilised: the sulphate process and the chloride process. The sulphate process boasts a long history and lower production costs, whereas the chloride process, though more advanced and yielding higher purity products, incurs greater expenses.

‌New Energy:    Enterprises such as Jinpu Titanium utilise ferrous sulphate by-products from titanium dioxide production to manufacture battery-grade iron phosphate, extending applications into the new energy vehicle sector.

Safety:

Titanium dioxide is considered non-toxic in conventional applications. However, prolonged exposure may pose risks including DNA damage, necessitating stringent production process controls.
