Driven by environmental policies and increasing health awareness, the application of water-based paint has expanded into every corner of architecture, industry, and home decoration. While the advantages of low odor and low VOC are widely recognized, as formulators or manufacturers, we must admit that water-based systems are much more "delicate" than traditional solvent-based (oil-based) ones. Similarly, to ensure the liquid spreads smoothly on smooth substrates, wetting agents are essential. They act like lubricants, breaking the resistance of water and allowing the paint film to adhere perfectly.
A deeper level of quality is reflected in the vibrant presentation of pigments and the texture of the paint film. Dispersants must not only prevent pigment particles from clumping and settling but also ensure color brilliance and long-term storage stability. Meanwhile, thickening agents (rheology modifiers) provide the coating with proper rheological properties—ensuring a silky feel during brushing while preventing sagging during vertical application. Simply put, without the precise adjustment of these additives, even the best emulsion can hardly perform at its expected level.
